We received confirmation of AMD’s upcoming launch schedule. As we revealed, review samples are already en route to tech media, and testing should begin shortly, possibly as soon as this week, depending on where the CPU shipped from. The bigger question we still could not fully confirm was the launch date.
On January 28, AMD will lift the review embargo. Sales will begin on January 29, as revealed by a French retailer even before AMD announced the CPU, so that date was correct. The embargo information we have also states that no pre-sales are allowed, so there will be no preorders when reviews go live.

The leaked embargo also does not mention the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, so it is not launching alongside this CPU. That was expected, since AMD did not announce it at CES 2026, but AMD has teased that it is coming at some point.
What AMD has not yet confirmed is pricing. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D launched at $479, and pricing for this CPU should be similar, if not identical. If that happens, the 9800X3D should get a price cut. AMD confirmed both SKUs will coexist, and the new X3D part is not replacing the current gaming favorite, it just adds another option.
Many thanks to OtoseKotama for the information!
